Allergology
Allergy is generally understood to be the hypersensitivity of the immune system to basically harmless substances from
the environment such as e.g. pollen, mites, animal hairs or food.
Allergies may have various causations and express themselves by a great variety of symptoms. The risk of developing
certain allergic reactions is mostly genetic. The tendency to develop hay fever, pollenosis, dust mite allergy, pet
allergy or mould allergy in the course of their lifetimes is significantly (by up to 50%) increased in children of
allergy sufferers.
We thus attach great importance to advice parents on the risk of allergies (and neurodermatitis) as early as prior to
or during pregnancy so that appropriate preventive measures can be taken in time.
Allergic reactions only develop in the course of life. Only after the immune system has come into contact with pollen,
dust mites or certain occupational substances does it become evident if the immune regulation is exuberant in terms of
an allergy or a healthy reaction is present.
In the last few years the treatment and the diagnosis of allergic diseases have made great strides, so that today for
instance 70-80% of all hay fever patients hardly or no longer suffer from complaints after the treatment. In case of
insect poison allergy, the success rate of a carefully planned and executed treatment is even at 95%.
